Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews Resigns After Nine Years

Daniel Andrews Resigns as Victorian Premier

After nine years in the role, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced his resignation.

Andrews made the announcement during a speech today, saying that he would be stepping down effective from 5pm on Sunday.

In his speech, Andrews said that he had made the decision to resign after "careful consideration" and that it was "the right time for me and for the state".

Andrews has been the Premier of Victoria since 2014. During his time in office, he has overseen a number of significant reforms, including the introduction of same-sex marriage and the establishment of a royal commission into family violence.

Andrews' resignation has come as a surprise to many. However, he has said that he is "proud of what we have achieved together" and that he is "confident that the future of Victoria is bright".
